Pretty Happy Funny Real

We finally got around to prepping for and pouring a concrete slab in our back yard for a patio. I think it’s very pretty!

We were so happy that the major portion of our back yard is finally done!

Especially Tony who worked so hard leveling out the area and putting up the forms, and spreading, pouring, leveling, floating, and brushing the concrete pad.

Our audience was so cute and funny.

Watching briefly before heading inside to spread toys across the downstairs and periodically popping back outside (hoping to be allowed off the deck to play in the backyard).

Or if that’s not funny enough, here are some pics of the boys and me playing pirate earlier this week. πŸ™‚

TJ said today, “I’m the pirate of the carabiner!” LOL!

we owe thanks to so many awesome people!

My dad and brothers came out and helped out, expecting to help wheel barrow concrete from the truck to the forms and spread it out. But it turned out to be more work than expected.

Even the concrete truck driver helped out and showed us some helpful hints helping us get done much quicker than we otherwise would have (and saving is some $$$ in the process).

This was a crazy day, and we still have lots to do to finish the back yard, but wow! What a big accomplishment! Thank you everyone who helped!

Especially Tony, who worked so hard getting it ready and done! I’m sorry I have so much more for us to do before it fulfills my vision of our completed back yard. πŸ˜‰ but we can do it together! πŸ˜‰
And another special thanks to my niece for playing with my boys and keeping them from getting into too much trouble. πŸ˜‰ Although TJ did complain a little when it was time to clean up and I quote: “K helped me to make the mess.”

And a special thanks goes out to TJs diabetes for not adding any additional craziness during the work party! πŸ™‚

  1. Your concrete work looks fantastic! We recently prepped and poured a walkway in our backyard, which my husband and two teens did the leveling and forms and all…a lot of work!
And a big yahoo for those concrete pourers and how they manage those big trucks and working with that flowing concrete!
